What is Symphuni?
The first competition of its kind in the UK, Symphuni is the UK Universities' Orchestra Competition. This exciting and innovative event will showcase the best in musical talent from UK Universities through the orchestral repertoire.
Symphuni will enable students from across the UK to come together and perform in one of London's leading concert venues, Cadogan Hall in Chelsea, home of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The aim of the competition is to acknowledge and promote the high standard of musical performance in UK Universities, as well as helping develop the skills of musicians, and, most importantly, to reward excellence in this.
2008
This year, invitations were open to Universities from within the Russell Group and the preliminary stage involved auditions by CD. A panel of classical music professionals will select up to five finalists from the applicants, who will be invited to come and perform live in front of an audience and the panel at London's Cadogan Hall on Thursday 27th March 2008. The orchestras will battle it out to be crowned 'Symphuni Orchestra of the Year 2008' and win a cash prize of £5000!
This year MB Promotions are delighted to be working with the RPO to bring this unique event to life. There is already lots of excitement surrounding the event and the final promises to be an unmissable afternoon of incredible music making!
